PTTGCA moving toward zero emissions

DILLES BOTTOM — If an ethane cracker plant is built at Dilles Bottom, its net emissions of greenhouse gases will be zero by 2050.

That goal was announced by GC Group, Thailand-based parent company of PTT Global Chemical America, for its entire corporate portfolio on Friday. Dan Williamson, spokesman for PTTGCA, confirmed Tuesday that the goal will apply to the proposed ethane cracker if it is constructed.

Williamson said this decision speaks to the type of company GC is — one that is conscious that climate change is an issue that must be addressed, as well as one that is confident it will be in operation for many years to come.

Williamson added that PTTGCA continues to search for an investment partner for the Belmont County project, and he believes this new commitment to sustainability might make the effort more attractive to companies that are looking toward the future.
